Developing and deploying value-added services for a Wireless Intelligent Network
Our Client
Our client is a global leader in manufacturing telecom equipment.
The Challenge
Value-added services are differentiators that help attract and retain subscribers for a Telecom Service Provider. Rapid deployment is crucial for service providers to gain market advantage. Our client wanted a host of new, value-added services for its CDMA2000 switching system. The services were to be developed on WIN architecture and deployed in our client’s network.
The Solution
The scope of our engagement included the creation of new services for the WIN system and their deployment in our client’s network. We conducted a detailed analysis to understand WIN related TIA specifications, especially IS-771 and IS-41D and all NEs (Network Elements) in the mobile system. NEs included SCP (Service Control Point), SMP (Service Management Point), SCE (Service Creation Environment), IP (Intelligent Peripherals), HLR (Home Location Register) and SSP (Service Switching Point) i.e. MSC.
The services developed included:
- Freephone
- Calling card
- Calling name presentation
- Incoming call screening
- Pre-Call advertisement
- Credit card
- Personal number
- Premium rate
The work involved:
- Understanding the service feature requirements
- Design of the database and service logic flow chart
- Implementation in SCE and functional testing
- Lab testing on SCP - integration testing with real NEs or simulated NEs
- Field installation and testing at Service Provider’s location
- User guide & training to field personnel for service management
The Benefits
Our client was able to take services live to its subscribers very rapidly, resulting in improved ARPU and stickiness |
