Developing value-added services for a Wireless Intelligent Network
the client
Our client is a leading, telecom equipment manufacturer.
the challenge
The client wanted a host of new, value-added services for its CDMA-2000 switching system (3G). The system used TIA/EIA IS-771 specification for Wireless Intelligent Network and IS41D for cellular intersystem communication.
the project
The scope of the project was:
  • Understanding WIN related TIA specifications specially IS-771 and IS-41D.
  • Understanding all NEs (Network Elements) in the mobile system. NEs include SCP (Service Control Point), SMP (Service Management Point), SCE (Service Creation Environment), IP (Intelligent Peripherals), HLR (Home Location Register) and SSP (Service Switching Point) i.e. MSC.
  • Creation of new services for the WIN system. The services developed included:
    - Freephone
    - Calling card
    - Calling name presentation
    - Incoming call screening
    - Pre-Call advertisement
    - Credit card
    - Personal number
    - Premium rate
  • The creation of new service involved:
    - Design of the database and service logic flow
      chart
    - Implementation on SCE and loading on SCP
    - Functional testing on SCE - Integration testing
with real NEs or simulated NEs. SS7 message
generators like MGTS, Turbo-7 etc. were used.
    - Service provisioning i.e. registration /
Modification of subscriber profile. - User guide
      for the service
Technologies and Expertise
