The client needed to reach a larger customer base. For this, they required a comprehensive on-line presence that would enable both internal and external users to leverage the 24x7 information and purchasing access that the Internet provides.
the solution
We delivered a fast, easy and convenient web portal that allows internal and external users to order product samples, development tools, software and 3rd party providers’ design tools online. Features include:
- Common shopping cart for a seamless user experience
- Discounts, coupons, special pricing and promotions
- Processes university orders (Provide special discounts/tax exemption)
- Ability to add third party tool vendors
- Supports multiple payment forms and new forms like PO, Wire transfer can be added
- Addresses tax and international duty liability
- Facilitates lead generation
- Sends data feeds to enterprise Business Intelligence systems for effective management reporting
- Interacts with the Merchant of Records (MOR) for tax calculation and payment processing. Web services were used as the interface with the MOR.
- Orders were made uniform irrespective of the type of product purchased. This ensured improved tracking of orders and enhanced visibility to senior management reporting.
- Interfaces with Siebel using Data Beans to ensure a rapid response system for every order generated.
