SUDIP BANERJEE
Chief Executive Officer
Sudip Banerjee joined L&T Infotech as Chief Executive Officer on 1st Sept ’08.
Sudip started his career in the IT industry in 1979 at HCL. He joined Wipro in 1983 as one of the founder members of the IT group of the company. His impeccable track record saw him quickly move up the ladder to the position of Regional Manger.
In 1993, he assumed charge as General Manager - Software Products. He was instrumental in starting alliances with software companies like Adobe, Netscape and Macromedia. Under his leadership, the Software Products business grew into an independent division which he headed as Vice President.
In April 1997, Sudip moved as Group Vice President - Human Resources for Wipro Infotech Group. During this stint he was responsible for the Human Resources function for both Domestic and Global operations. He was instrumental in driving organizational changes, leading to the formation of the software services part of Wipro (Wipro Technologies).
From October 1999 until January 2002, Sudip was the Chief Executive – Operations & Staffing of Wipro Technologies. His responsibilities included creation and setting up of Development Centres, Resources, Staffing & Training, Administration and Facilities & Infrastructure Management.
In January 2002, he assumed charge as President – Enterprise Solutions. Under his stewardship, the Enterprise Solutions Division grew from revenues of US$ 160M to US$ 1.4B in the last 6 years. He was responsible for a number of industry verticals and horizontals including Manufacturing, Retail, Energy & Utilities, Media, Healthcare, etc. and headed a team of >19,000 employees at the time of leaving Wipro. He also led the acquisition of two overseas companies into the Wipro family.
Sudip is actively associated with many industry associations including Nasscom. He holds a B.A. Hons. in Economics from Delhi University and Diploma in Management from AIMA, Delhi. His other interests are cricket, golf and quizzing.
